This reproduction pin of antique jewelry by renowned jewelry designer, Ann Hand, is fashioned upon a historical pin on display in the Mount Vernon Museum. Martha Washington’s seed pearls were arranged in the form of a dove of peace - the symbol George Washington selected for Mount Vernon’s cupola. In 1789, George Washington purchased "pearl pins and earrings for Mrs. Washington" which were likely seed pearls that were then the fashion.

Martha Washington has long been considered the mother of pearl jewelry. This Ann Hand pin is a must have for anyone interested in pearl jewelry or pearl pendants.
